Ok, so this entry has nothing to do with "Little Paynes". Tim and I got a sitter for the weekend. I have always wanted to float the Zion Narrows and I once wishfully drove shuttle for Tim while he did it a few years back. Last month, I finally got to float it! Thank you other Annie for taking such good care of the "Little Paynes". And thanks to Tim and Z for carring all the heavy stuff! The trip was everything.
So, it's a six mile hike in to get to enough water (confluence of Deep Creek and the Virgin) to float. Photo is of Tim rigged with the Mini Puma on his back.
Still Hiking.. but we had to rest and do a photo of a very cool water fall along the way.
Z did the entire hike in wet suit booties! I think by this photo he had tired feet.
After the hike, we were completely rewarded with the coolest float trip ever. The water fall (behind me) reminded me a lot of Vasey's Paradise in Grand Canyon...(same rock and vegetation.. and yes, Kanab Amber Snail lives here too). Zion National Park calls it "Big Springs" which I think is a lame name, so I am calling it, Mary Jane Springs; after my very own little Vasey.
